The option to use Bancontact is an additional payment method via the Stripe payment gateway and as part of the online payments service (paid).

Bancontact is available only in Belgium.

In order to activate Bancontact, you first need to unlock the online payments module in admin panel -> Setup -> Payments -> Online payment. Click “Yes” and then “Next.”

Once you’re ready to accept online payments, go to Payments -> Card & other payment methods and click Yes. You have to open and connect a Stripe merchant account. 

To connect your Stripe merchant account with this ordering system, insert the publishable key, and the live secret key you’ll find in your Stripe dashboard in the designated boxes in our admin area.

Bancontact is one of the payment methods you can use via Stripe. You need to enable it in Stripe first, then enable it in the ordering system, like this:

1. Go to your Stripe account -> Settings -> Payment Methods and click on “Turn On” button from Bancontact:

2. Go back to your administration panel, check the box “I manually enabled this within Stripe”, then click “Next”:

This payment method fully supports SCA—including exemption logic—and ensures that you only ask customers to provide additional authentication when strictly necessary.
