Best practices for your daily POS operations

Running daily operations efficiently with the restaurant POS system is key to smooth service, accurate reporting, and happy customers.

Here are some useful best practices for the daily POS operations:

Close all open checks at the end of the day. While checks are open, you cannot run reports.

Check the internet connection regularly. When an online order cannot be pushed to the POS due to the connectivity loss, you will get a system notification by email. This could be a sign for you to check internet connection.

✅Make sure that all menu items and their addons are up to date, including pricing and availability. Confirm that daily specials or limited-time offers are scheduled correctly. To sync with the workstation, make sure you upload the database.

Run the Property Financial Report at the end of day. Review and act on data provided by reports, both those in the restaurant admin panel and the workstation. For example, track top-selling items and adjust kitchen priorities if needed.

✅ Ensure staff log out completely to avoid accountability issues.

As a general reminder:

Train staff continuously. Regular refreshers on using the POS system can reduce errors and speed up service.
Maintain the hardware. Clean terminal(s), check printers for paper and test swipe/tap gestures on the workstation.
